Chillin’ On Christmas Eve

By Kendra

Once upon a time in a house on the edge of a cliff lived a little family filled with laughter and joy. All their friends and family came to visit them for Christmas. They all had a chit chat and gave each other wonderful presents. After Kendra and Caitlín played the violin and the flute which was a family tradition, Nana got up and sang a song. After the singing and dancing when all the presents were shared there were still some presents left, that’s when they realised that someone was missing. Everyone was waiting for the last two family members to come.  They made a couple of phone calls and realised that auntie Marie and uncle Séan were missing, after they made a few phone calls Aisling remembered that their Auntie and Uncle had told her they were going to be in the airport and she had forgotten all about it.

They were in the airport waiting for hours for their Uncle and Auntie’s plane to arrive, when Cáomh, their big brother , got the phone  call. The auntie and uncle said they had a traffic delay because of a snow storm; they were stuck in the airport in Australia. Then Kendra came up with an idea, the plan was to make a magic sleigh that turns into a boat in water and flies through the air too. She remembered she had magic dust in her pocket that the fairy gave her when she was in fairyland and the fairy told her to use it for an emergency only. She went to the bits and bobs shop outside the airport and she picked up a lot of wood, a chair she could make into a seat for the sleigh and she got a massive basket that she could carry her Aunt Marie and Uncle Séan home in. The man in the bits and bobs shop helped her to attach the oval basket to the chair, and then she got an old steering wheel , a horn from a bicycle, fake reindeers  and a Santa costume to make her look like the real Santa. The nice fairy had lent her some magic dust that would last for about 24 hours. Soon enough she was flying through the air in her magic sleigh. She left Ireland at two o’clock and didn’t get to Australia until 8 O’clock in the morning. She reached her Auntie and Uncles house on the south east coast of Australia just outside Sydney. Auntie Marie saw a mini Santa Claus and she opened the door, the mini Santa Claus got out of her sleigh and walked towards the door, then Auntie Marie realised that it was Kendra. She blinked twice and said to herself “I need to go to Specsavers” and then after she mumbled to herself she fell in the doorstep and fainted. Kendra thought it was just because she was shocked to see a mini Santa Claus. Fifteen minutes later she woke up and said “ay ay aye!” and rubber her head. She stood up and walked into the sitting room, when she walked in Kendra was sitting on the couch having a feast of mince pies and milk.

Kendra finally got Marie and Séan into the sleigh and she said “You are coming back to my house with me to have a merry, merry Christmas!” She tried to start up the sleigh and suddenly there was no magic dust left. Her auntie said to her that she had never told anybody this before then she said “In the forest there are Snow Fairies and they will give you some dust to take us back” Kendra said “Ok” and walked into the forest. After an hour looking for them she found them in a tree beside a blackberry bush and said “Please, may I have some magic dust?” The fairy said “Yes, you may.” She got some dust and off the fairy went in a puff of smoke.  Kendra walked back to her Sleigh, sprinkled some dust over it and away they all went. They eventually got back to Kendra’s house and had a merry, merry, MERRY Christmas.
